Lipps Inc. was formed in 1977. Group was leaded by Steven Greenberg who produced and wrote all their songs, and the lead vocalist Cynthia Johnson who was Miss Black Minnesota in 1976. The other members were Terry Grant, David Rivkin, Tom Riopelle and Ivan Rafowitz.
Their first and last hit was a classic: "Funkytown", in 1979. It's one of the best known Disco songs. Lipps Inc. went to the 80's, but they did not do well. Some people say that they went to Funkytown and left all their good songs there... Anyway, in 1981, they recorded a "Funkytown-like" single called "How long". 4 years later, they recorded an interesting album , that has the single "Does Anybody Know me". However, nothing that can be compared to "Funkytown".
